At its core, Rakshabandhan is a celebration of a single, simple element: a thread.
It is incredible how a simple piece of spun cotton or silk, tied around a wrist, can hold so much power. It represents an unspoken vow of protection, a lifetime of shared memories, and a bond that withstands the test of time.
As the founder of a slow-fashion brand deeply rooted in Indian textiles, I spend my life surrounded by threads. And to me, the symbolism of Rakshabandhan feels incredibly personal to the work we do every day at SA Fab. Just as a sister ties a Rakhi to protect her brother, the threads woven into our garments carry their own vow of protection—a vow to protect a 450-year-old Rajasthani heritage, and the livelihoods of the 200+ artisan families who keep it alive.
The Shift Toward Intentional Gifting

Of course, from a business perspective, the weeks leading up to Rakshabandhan bring a massive spike in demand. For most fashion brands, this means pushing factories into overdrive.

As a founder, my responsibility during this festive rush is to ensure we never push our artisans onto a timeline that quietly costs them their well-being or the quality of their craft.
We scale our business by planning months in advance, allowing our artisans to work at their natural, rhythmic pace. To us, true protection means honoring the integrity of slow fashion, even when the market demands speed.
